Hannah Bradley-Cohen, The Bespoke Quilter

I learned to cross-stitch when I was a child, living in Surrey, and always loved to be creative. One of my creations was a series of cross-stitch figures from a pattern given to me by my grandmother. Each figure spelled out a letter of the alphabet, and I worked on the embroidery shapes with my mother.
I trained as a beauty therapist and travelled the world with a leading hospitality company – which was how I met my husband Pete, when he pushed in front of me in an airport queue. I thought he was an idiot!  We were both stranded in Croatia by the ash cloud of Eyjafjallajökull and ended up driving across Europe together. My view of Pete improved over the course of the journey and we married in 2014.
After a serious illness, I came across the alphabet cross-stitch pieces and decided to make them up into a quilt. I fell in love with quilting and it became my passion. I love to make “custom” pieces and my own work is inspired by nature and the outdoors.
Now I am turning my hobby into a business and I have become, The Bespoke Quilter. I make finished pieces for selling or works to commission. I specialise in memory pieces, using treasured fabrics to make cushions and quilts in memory of a special event or a special person.
I always feel the best part of quilting is uncovering the design hidden in the pieces.
